A prenatal vitamin is a conscious supplement if your body does not get enough calcium from your diet.

We consciously did not include calcium in the PUURA MaMa prenatal vitamin, as not every expectant mother requires extra supplementation in addition to their dietary intake. However, if you do not consume dairy products, or consume them only rarely, it is worth paying extra attention to your daily calcium intake during the months of pregnancy.

For pregnant adults, the recommended daily calcium intake is approximately 1000 mg, which should be provided by a combination of diet and, if necessary, dietary supplements. Calcium is necessary for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, and plays a role in the processes of cell division.

If your body does not get enough calcium from your diet, PUURA Ca can help supplement your daily intake. It contains 200 mg of elemental calcium per capsule in the form of calcium citrate. The absorption of calcium citrate is less dependent on stomach acid levels than that of calcium carbonate, making it a practical choice even if you are taking antacids.

Omega-3 fatty acids: DHA and EPA are particularly valuable omega-3 fatty acids during pregnancy, when the mother's diet is also decisive for the developing baby. In our country, we typically consume little fish, so it is especially worth paying attention to the adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids during this time. Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the fetus, and it also contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and vision, while EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function.

Vitamin D: Contributes to the normal function of the immune system and plays a role in cell division. It contributes to the maintenance of normal blood calcium levels and healthy bones, as well as the maintenance of healthy muscle function.

Vitamin C: The history of the discovery of Vitamin C is a true source of Hungarian pride: the work of Nobel Prize-winning researcher Albert Szent-Györgyi contributed fundamentally to our current deep understanding of this essential vitamin. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and normal collagen formation. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, and increases iron absorption.

Zinc: Zinc participates in hundreds of enzymatic reactions. Zinc plays a role in maintaining normal fertility and reproduction. It contributes to the maintenance of normal mental function. Zinc plays a role in normal protein synthesis. It contributes to normal carbohydrate and macronutrient metabolism, DNA synthesis, and cell division. It supports the immune system and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. It also contributes to the maintenance of normal skin.

Iodine: Iodine is an essential trace element that the body needs in small amounts, but continuously. It contributes to the maintenance of normal cognitive function, participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, supports the normal functioning of the nervous system and the maintenance of normal skin, and further contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin with antioxidant effects that contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Selenium: Selenium is an essential trace element; our body can only obtain it from external sources. Selenium contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and normal thyroid function.

Lactoferrin: Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein found naturally in milk. Its name refers to this special property: "ferrin" refers to its binding to iron.

Vitamin B3: Vitamin B3, also known as niacin, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in the body's daily energy processes. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, the maintenance of normal psychological function, and the preservation of normal skin and mucous membranes. It also contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Iron: Iron is an essential trace element that is particularly important for blood formation and the body's oxygen supply. It contributes to normal red blood cell and hemoglobin formation, normal oxygen transport in the body, and the maintenance of normal cognitive function and normal immune system function. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and plays a role in cell division.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A is a fat-soluble, essential vitamin that plays an important role in, among other things, the normal functioning of vision, skin, and the immune system. It contributes to normal iron metabolism, the maintenance of normal mucous membranes and skin, and normal vision. It also contributes to the normal function of the immune system and plays a role in cell specialization.

Vitamin B12: Working together with folate, it participates in red blood cell formation. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes. It contributes to the normal functioning of the immune and nervous systems and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. It also plays a role in cell division.

Choline: Choline is a water-soluble, vitamin-like nutrient that participates in numerous physiological processes. It contributes to normal homocysteine and lipid metabolism, as well as the maintenance of normal liver function.

Copper: Copper is an essential trace element that, although in small amounts, is necessary for numerous important physiological processes. It contributes to the maintenance of normal connective tissues, participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, supports the normal functioning of the nervous and immune systems, normal iron transport in the body, and normal hair and skin pigmentation. It also contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Folate: Folate is given a particularly important role in life stages where intense cell division and tissue growth occur – including during pregnancy. It contributes to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy, participates in the process of cell division, and contributes to normal blood formation and amino acid synthesis. It also supports the proper functioning of the immune system, the maintenance of normal psychological function, and contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Vitamin B2: Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is a water-soluble vitamin that is an essential nutrient for the body. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, the maintenance of mucous membranes, skin, normal red blood cells, and normal vision, as well as normal iron metabolism. It also contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Vitamin B6: Contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, the normal functioning of the nervous system, and the maintenance of normal psychological functions. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, and normal cysteine, protein, and glycogen metabolism.

Vitamin B5: Pantothenic acid, or Vitamin B5, is an important micronutrient for daily energy levels and mental performance. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, contributes to the normal synthesis and metabolism of steroid hormones, vitamin D, and some neurotransmitters, and further contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, as well as normal mental performance.

Vitamin B1: Vitamin B1, or thiamine, is an important vitamin for energy, mental balance, and normal heart function. It participates in normal energy-yielding metabolic processes, contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, the maintenance of normal psychological function, and normal heart function.

It also contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, skin, and mucous membranes.

How do you incorporate it into your daily routine?

We recommend taking PUURA MaMa in the evening with a meal, and PUURA Ca in the morning or during the day, with or without food. It is advisable to space the intake of the two products by at least 2–3 hours, as taking calcium at the same time can reduce the absorption of the iron contained in MaMa.
